I have never bungee jumped in my life, yet I'm signing this simply because putting a barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge would be like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa. A lesser plan than this petition would fail because it wouldn't have a healthy alternative to the barrier. The idea of having bungee jumps there is a stroke of genius.

As a San Francisco native, I have a strong fascination with the Golden Gate Bridge. After watching "The Bridge", I've come to realize just how serious the suicide issue is with the barrier program. The bungee jumping would entice those who would like to embrace the bridge's great height without taking their own life.
I surely would make the trip from NYC to do it! :)

Some bridges around the world allow climbing tours, which accomplish the same thing. It demystifies bridges as a place for suicide, and allows people to see them in a different light.
